Punk rock (or simply punk) is a rock music genre that developed between 1974 and 1976 in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. Rooted in garage rock and other forms of what is now known as proto-punkmusic, punk rock bands rejected perceived excesses of mainstream 1970s rock.
Punk bands typically use short or fast-paced songs, with hard-edged melodies and singing styles, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti-establishment lyrics. Punk embraces a DIY ethic; many bands self-produced recordings and distributed them through informal channels.
The term “punk” was first used in relation to rock music by some American critics in the early 1970s, to describe garage bands and their devotees. By late 1976, bands such as Television and the Ramones in New York City, and the Sex Pistolsthe Clash, and the Damned in London were recognized as the vanguard of a new musical movement.
The following year saw punk rock spreading around the world, and it became a major cultural phenomenon in the United Kingdom. For the most part, punk took root in local scenes that tended to reject association with the mainstream.
An associated punk subculture emerged, expressing youthful rebellion and characterized by distinctive styles of clothing and adornment (ranging from deliberately offensive T-shirts, leather jackets, spike bands and other studded or spiked jewelry to bondage and S&M clothes) and a variety of anti-authoritarian ideologies.
By the beginning of the 1980s, faster, more aggressive styles such as hardcore (e.g. Black Flag) and street punk (e.g. the Exploited) had become the predominant mode of punk rock. Musicians identifying with or inspired by punk also pursued a broad range of other variations, giving rise to post-punk and the alternative rock movement. At the end of the 20th century, punk rock had been adopted by the mainstream, as pop punk and punk rock bands such as Green Daythe Offspring and Blink-182 brought the genre widespread popularity.

Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols By The Sex Pistols

Nevermind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols by The Sex Pistols, 1977
Nevermind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols by The Sex Pistols, 1977
Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols is the only studio album by English punk rock group Sex Pistols, released on 28 October 1977 by Virgin Records.
At the time of its release, the band was already extremely controversial, having sworn on live TV, been fired from two record labels and been banned from playing live in most parts of England. The album’s title added to that controversy, with some people finding the word “bollocks” offensive.
Many record stores refused to carry the album and some record charts refused to list the album, showing just a blank space instead.

American Supreme by Suicide 2002

American Supreme by Suicide Alan Vega & Martin Rev
American Supreme by Suicide Alan Vega & Martin Rev
American Supreme  is the fifth and final studio album by the American band Suicide.
It was released in 2002 on Mute Records and was the group’s first self-produced album. The album received generally favorable reception with positive reviews praising its experimental and difficult listening experience while negative reviews found the album sounding dated even in comparison to the group’s first two albums released decades prior.
Suicide was an American musical duo, intermittently active between 1968 and 2016, composed of vocalist Alan Vega and instrumentalist Martin Rev.
The group’s pioneering music made use of minimalist electronic instrumentation and primitive drum machines, and their early performances were confrontational and often ended in violence.
They were among the first groups to use the phrase punk music in an advertisement for a concert in 1970.  Read more and listen at……………….

Raw Power is the third studio album by American rock band The Stooges (“Iggy and the Stooges”). It was released on February 7, 1973, by Columbia Records
Though not initially commercially successful, Raw Power gained a cult following in the years following its release and, like its predecessor (1970’s Fun House), is generally considered an influential forerunner of punk rock.
Despite its weak initial reception, the reputation of Raw Power grew tremendously in subsequent years, and the album’s volume and ferocity became benchmarks against which later albums were measured.

Ramones “Ramones”
Ramones by Ramones 1976 on Sire Records
Ramones is the debut studio album by American punk rock band the Ramones, released on April 23, 1976 by Sire Records. After Hit Parader editor Lisa Robinson saw the band at a gig in New York City, she wrote about them in an article and contacted Danny Fields, insisting he be their manager. Fields agreed and convinced Craig Leon to produce Ramones, and the band recorded a demo for prospective record labels. Leon persuaded Sire president Seymour Stein to listen to the band perform, and he later offered the band a recording contract. The Ramones began recording in January 1976, needing only seven days and $6,400 to record the album. They used similar sound-output techniques to those of the Beatles, and used advanced production methods by Leon.

The Velvet Underground & Nico is the debut album by American rock band the Velvet Underground with vocalist Nico, released in March 1967 by Verve Records. Recorded in 1966 during Andy Warhol’s Exploding Plastic Inevitable multimedia event tour, the album would gain attention for its experimental performance sensibilities and controversial lyrical topics, including drug abuse, prostitution, sadism and masochism and sexual deviancy.
Though it was a commercial failure upon release and was almost completely ignored by critics at the time, the record has since become one of the most influential and critically acclaimed rock albums in history, appearing at number thirteen on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time as well as being added to the 2006 National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress. In 1982, musician Brian Eno famously stated that while The Velvet Underground & Nico initially only sold 30,000 copies, “everyone who bought one of those 30,000 copies started a band.”
